3 A. Mitchell Palmer Attorney General of the United States He led raids (Palmer Raids) on suspected communists, held prisoner for weeks, deported hundreds, found virtually no evidence

4 Sacco & Vanzetti Italian immigrants who were anarchists Evaded the draft for WWI Accused of robbery and murder Executed with very little evidence (scapegoats for communist fears)

5 Nativism Fear of foreign born people Led to the formation of the KKK (They were anti-black, anti- jew, anti-union, anti- catholic, anti-alcohol, anti-homosexual)

6 Ohio Gang A group of Harding’s close friends and advisors who were guilty of corruption and taking bribes Teapot Dome Scandal, US land was leased to private oil companies for very little money in exchange for money and land
