Launch Word

File - Open This actually should be the student’s “P-drive”…not My Documents!!! Students will need to drop the Look In Drop Down menu to access their P- drives

Right click in the white space Select New Folder

Folder name - Ron Hickey’s eportfolio

Expand the Eportfolio folder and make subfolders CCAE I Computer Apps Construction I GaCollege411

Create a Subfolder for Gacollege411 Archive the following Word documents in that subfolder: – Career Cluster Inventory – Career Choice 1 – Interest Profiler – Career Choice 2 – Current CTAE Class – Career Choice 3

What information should be included in each of these Gacollege411 documents? – Overview – Duties of job – Working conditions – Education and Training – Skills, abilities, and/or aptitudes – Employment trends and outlook – Current projected salary

How to create a hyperlinked index document Students should archive exemplary work in their subfolders they have created for your class. (Below are examples from my class) – CCAE I CE1_selfportrait_rah CE1_GCIS_rah CE1_careermanual_rah File naming protocol ( Course Number_projecttitle_initials)

Artifacts from my class These are three artifacts stored in my student’s CCAE I folder that I want him to link in his index, match to the course standards, and write a reflection for each.

Right click on the selected title

Select hyperlink

Adding the hyperlink They need to select “Existing File” Students will need to select the appropriate file to link. They may have to change the “Look In” box. Select file and click “OK”

Final Steps Save the index file To check the link, place cursor over the linked title, and use the Ctrl + Click to launch the file. Sometimes files will play or display in background….you may have to bring them forward.
