BIOGRAPHY: -Born and lived in Concord, MA. -Went to Concord Academy and Harvard University -American author, poet, philosopher, abolitionist, naturalist, tax resister, development critic, surveyor, and historian

CONTRIBUTIONS: -Henry had messages of simple, deliberate living; spirituality in nature; and conservation -Thoreau lived on Walden pond to write his first book, and to conduct an economic experiment to see if it were possible to live by working one day and devoting the other six to more Transcendental concerns, reversing the habit of working six days and resting one.
