Three Lessons from the Rich Young Ruler 1. He was not satisfied In spite of all he had, he had an un-answered question Lk 10:25-29; Acts 2:37 2. Material possessions kept the man from following Jesus Riches a blessing? (cf. John 9:1-2) - man’s perspective... Matt 22:36-40 - Priorities on keeping commandments Matt 6:24 - Danger in desiring riches (cf. Lk 18:28-30) 3. Who can be saved? No one, without God’s intervention To be saved we need to let God transform us!

... And Three More Lessons Consider the context - cf. Lk 18:15-17 and 18:35-43 1. How do you leave after encountering Jesus? Two possible reactions cf. Bartimeus, Lk 18:43; Mk 10:49-50 (cf. Deut 24:12-13) 2. What is Jesus going to tell me? “You are doing just fine!!!”? “Need to be better Christian”? 18:22 - Very specific! Know what’s wrong and how to fix it! 3. When I come to Jesus, who am I coming to? “Good Teacher”? vs. “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy...” Do we know (about) Jesus? Cf. James 2:23
