1 Study abroad in Thailand May 2015 Program led by Dr. Melanie Marks

2 Thailand is called the “land of smiles”… Learn as we explore this very beautiful country.

3 Explore Thailand’s history… Travel on famous bridge over River Kwai. Ride the Death Railroad. See Khmer-style ruins in former Siam capital.

4 Visit historic places… Visit war cemetery, Three Pagodas Pass, sunken temple, etc.

5 Learn about Buddhist culture…

6 Get to know its beautiful people… Visit a rural school and spend the day in a Karen village.

7 Shop and eat in local markets… Also learn to cook traditional Thai dishes.

8 Explore Thailand’s natural environment… Waterfall treks Kayaking Island hopping

9 Appreciate the exotic… Visit floating market and open air markets. Visit tiger temple and Burmese elephant camp. Wear a longyi?

10 Class for Thailand study abroad: Econ 475: Introduction to Southeast Asia – NO prerequisite. – Class will meet intensively for 4 days on campus prior to departure. – Waives GOAL 9. – Content includes general economics, environmental economics, international trade, Thai history, introduction to Buddhism and connection to economy, social issues, etc.

11 All of this at affordable price… 14 days Exotic itinerary Travel cost expected to be $2675. Note that the first $400 constitutes a nonrefundable deposit. Students who drop out of the program might lose more than this amount if a replacement is not found and funds have been expended.
