ACGME General Competencies Programs must require residents to obtain competence in six defined areas to the level expected of a new physician beginning in practice.

Patient care Medical knowledge Practice-based learning and improvement Interpersonal and communication skills Professionalism Systems-based practice ACGME General Competencies

Chairmen and Program Directors of the Chattanooga Unit appointed representatives from each department to discuss how to modify the Institutional Core Curriculum to augment each program’s efforts to incorporate these six general competency areas into the overall curriculum ACGME General Competencies

Several Sessions each year (7 – 8 am), typically the 2 nd Tuesday of a month 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd year residents required to attend Videotapes will be made available Brief post-test may be made part of the session ACGME General Competencies Institutional Core Curriculum Grand Rounds:
