S1/2 – Follow a common course of 14 subjects with no choice S3 – 14 subjects (5 compulsory & 9 choice) S4 – 8 subjects at National 3/4/5 (6 subjects from May 2015) S5/6 – 5 subjects at Adv Higher/Higher/National

Each new NQ course requires 160 hours. Provides sufficient time for each subject. Prevents “eating into” the Broad General Education. Allows for specialisation. Supports increased depth of study More manageable internal assessment load.

Increases the choice of subjects and the combination of subjects on offer. Allows for efficiency when timetabling. More flexible progression routes. Allows S5/6 students to do 5 subjects for 6 periods. Maintains Inverclyde’s consortium arrangements

50% would have made a different choice for one or more of their subjects Strong feeling of studying a broad range of subjects, enjoying the S3 experience and having challenge in their learning Students were generally clear about their future career pathway. Students feel confident with their learning but would like some more information on the progress in each subject
