Buckingham Palace is the official London Residence of the British monarch. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is a setting for state occasions and royal hospitality. When the monarch is in residence, the Royal Standard is on the roof of the Palace.

Buckingham Palace looks like a small town, where 3000 servants work and where there are a lot of facilities: a post office, a police station, cafes, cinemas and so on. There are 600 rooms in the palace and 3 miles of red floor carpet. There are 300 clocks there which are checked daily by two men who work full time.

The state rooms, used for official and state entertaining, are open to the public in August and September.
