Israel chose to disobey and they suffered the consequences  To love God is to follow His commands  Mark 12 Greatest commandment: Love God  Second greatest: love your neighbor  I Cor. 13 No love: deeds/works are worthless  Acts 2, 4 &5 The church was of one heart and soul and loved God above all else  John 15 If you love God you will keep His commands

5.  I John Do not love the world or the things in the world  James 4:4 Friendship with the world is adultery  Ez. 6:9 God is hurt by adulterous hearts and eyes  God’s heart is hurt when we as believers temporarily choose the world over Him

6.  Jesus will grant him to eat of the tree of life in the Paradise of God  Connection between Jesus’ description of Himself, the problem and the promise?  1. Those who remember, repent and do are the ones who love God and are overcomers.  2. Those who don’t, don’t receive the promise of life in the Paradise of God  3. Leaving their first love is a matter of life and death.

7.  Is this saying you can lose your salvation by walking away?  No. But motive shows the heart’s condition  Why do you live as a Christian?  What is your heart’s motive/desire? To please God and become more and more like Him by obeying His Word, which transforms you into the likeness of Christ?  We are to have the mind of Christ.
