2 The importance of standards for working with children and young people Aproach is determined with a certain set of specific knowledge and skills and recognizing the challenges that carries the development of the family as a whole Standards emphasized 1.The ability to select and apply appropriate interventions in working with children, young people and families. 2.Early identification of risk and prevention of risk factors. 3.Promoting strengths oriented practice

3 Standards emphasized 4.Creating a practice consistent with the best interests of the child. 5.Child right perspective 6.Participation of children and youth 7.The acceptance of diversity and respect for the child's personality and autonomy of the family. 8.The understanding and empathy for the situation of the child and the family situation 9.Collaborative approach in the preservation and improvement of the functioning of the family

4 Standard 1 Social worker is trained to understand and apply the basic theories, methods and techniques of social work and other relevant disciplines dealing with children and families with the knowledge of the mandate and working methods of existing institutions, organizations and institutions that are at the service of children and families

5 Interpretation Standard 1 Knowledge of the history and development of SW in the field of protection of children and families Knowledge of the social security system, a method of family planning and policy, as well as policies and measures of protection Possession of knowledge about the development and the different needs of children and other family members on family systems, the dynamics of family relationships and the functioning of the community Informed about the contemporary models of SW practice with children and young people as well as the relevant legal regulations

6 Standard 2 Social worker possesses a thorough knowledge of the principles of human rights and children's rights, antidiscriminative and culturally competent practices, as well as representing the interests of the child and family and strengthen their capacity to foster development, overcoming the risks and ensure their safety and well-being.

7 Interpretation Standard 2 Knowledge of the various forms of discrimination and at different levels of society. Knowledge of historical, economic, social and cultural causes and mechanisms of oppression and discrimination. Awareness of prejudices and stereotypes based on race, disability, economic status, age, religion origin, language, gender and genus

8 Standard 3 Social worker is qualified for autonomous and team organization and management of a comprehensive needs assessment, strengths and risks of the child, young person and family in the context of a systemic orientation person-in- enviroment, in collaboration with the child, family, and other relevant, formal and informal actors, for the selection and application of appropriate intervention.

9 Interpretation Standard 3 Gathering information from different sources in collaboration with the child and family and other relevant stakeholders Spotting problems, difficulties, protection and risk factors, strengths, weaknesses, resilience and resistance of the child and the family. Using the practice method for the assessment of the child and family. Identify significant informal and formal networks, relationships and social networks that are available to the child and family.

10 Standard 4 Social worker is qualified for the timely implementation of preventive, developmental, protective and therapeutic interventions to encourage growth and development, meeting the needs of children and families, as well as ensuring the safety and welfare of the child.

11 Interpretation Standard 4 The implementation of interventions that promote positive outcomes and include children, family, team members, and other stakeholders Interventions are based on current assesment and include objectives and evaluation methods and criteria for measuring outcomes of interventions

12 Standard 5 Social worker is qualified for team and individual work on ensuring permanence and least restrictive environment for the child.

13 Interpretation Standard 5 Investing reasonable efforts in the family preservation in cooperation with all relevant stakeholders Selection of least restrictive environments and solutions in accordance with UN guidelines for the alternative care of children. Evaluation of the safety and adequacy of accommodation options Continuous efforts in preserving the relationship the child has Taking into account the child's perception of time Assessment and provision of services to potential and current – caregivers relatives, foster parents, adoptive parents and parents whose children do not live in his parents' family, children and young people in alternative care and work with adopted children and youth

14 Components of competencies A cluster of related abilities, commitments, knowledge and skills, that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation Sufficiency of knowledge and skills that enable someone to act in a wide variety of situations Knowledge is the cognizance of facts, truths and principles A skill is a developed proficiency or dexterity in mental operations or physical processes Ability is the power or aptitude to perform physical or mental activities affiliated with a particular profession Individual attributes are properties, qualities or characteristics of individuals
