Morning Meeting Four Components of Morning Meeting Greeting: Children greet each other by name. The greetings are structured and often include shaking hands, clapping, singing, and other activities. Sharing: Students share some news of interest, usually personal news, and respond to each other, articulating their thoughts, feelings, and questions in a positive manner. Group Activity: The whole class does a short activity together, building class cohesion through active participation. News and Announcements: Students practice academic skills and build their sense of community by reading and discussing a daily message written by the teacher.
3
Snacks: Your child should bring in healthy, clean snacks that they can eat during the first 5 minutes of class. Please do not send in chips or cookies as a morning snack. Also, please do not send in food with nuts or peanut oil.
4
Communication: The best way to communicate with us is via email. We check our email several times a day. Typically, we respond to email within 24 hours. Please let the office know if there is a same day change in the dismissal plans. Send in a note and your child will receive an early dismissal pass from the front office. Please do not leave a voicemail message. Bkuhn@mtsd.us Ajuniak@mtsd.us Lbenz@mtsd.us

Math Grading: Students are responsible for bringing their binder and textbook to class daily. All HW assignments are given a 2pt. value unless otherwise noted. Students are allowed to turn assignments in one day late for partial credit. Retests: It is the district policy for math and science tests that any student who earns below a 70%, may re-take it. As long as the student earns a 70% or higher on the re-test, his or her grade will be changed to a maximum of 70%. Otherwise the higher of the two scores will be the final grade. PR is for back-up purposes only. Graded assignments are typically added to PR on the day the work is first assigned. It is a good practice for your child to begin checking PR. If you see an unexpectedly low grade or assignment marked “missing” etc…on PR, please send us an email. We will be happy to offer clarification.

After-School Help All teachers at LMS have one after-school help day per week. Students should arrive at the session already knowing what they want or need to work on and should be prepared with appropriate materials. The help sessions end at 3:55. Parents must pick up their children at that time. There are no late buses. Tuesday – Ms. Juniak Wednesday – Ms. Benz Thursday- Ms. Wheaton
