WHAT IS THE ONLINE RESOURCE BANK? A Place to Find Resources Easy access to general knowledge primers, legislation, Cheat Sheets and more A Place to Share Resources Easy to upload documents to the Resource Bank Private, Members Only Registration is required to ensure privacy

Easy to use Straightforward design Cost Effective Save on printing and photocopying costs Portable and Shareable More than one user in an office can use it at once Accessible outside the office Works on phones with internet browsers and Adobe Reader Easily Updated Updates happen in real-time

RESOURCES FOUND ONLINE General Knowledge Primers Low complexity, introductory summaries, reports and tip-sheets Forms Court forms, applications and other relevant forms Bundled with instructions wherever possible Legislation Permanent links to the latest versions of relevant statutes Cheat Sheets The newest versions of the PBLA Cheat Sheets found in the physical manuals

ACCESSING RESOURCES: CHEAT SHEETS Cheat Sheets Every section except Immigration & Refugee and Human Rights includes Cheat Sheets Cheat Sheets provide extremely brief outlines of various aspects of the law and direct the reader to other relevant resources, forms and legislation

ACCESSING RESOURCES: LEGISLATION Legislation Every section includes links to Acts and Regulations relevant to that area of law Unlike the paper Resource Manuals, the Online Resource Bank automatically links to the most current version of the legislation found on CanLii Also, the lack of size constraints allows linking to larger Acts (i.e.: Criminal Code of Canada) that would be too expensive to print and place in the paper Resource Manuals

ACCESSING RESOURCES: COURT FORMS Court Forms Court forms (and general applications) are available in PDF form in each section of the site Most forms come complete with instructions attached, or included in “PDF Folders” with the document Many of the forms can typed on using Adobe Reader

UPLOADING RESOURCES One of the main reasons behind the creation of the Online Resource Bank Clinics and other approved members can upload files to the site The kinds of documents uploaded will determine the future of the Online Resource Bank

UPLOADING RESOURCES: REQUIREMENTS Only PDF, picture files (PNG, JPG, GIF, etc.) or permanent hyperlinks will be allowed on the site All documents must be approved by an Admin before they will be made visible to other members Uploader must hold copyright or have permission to upload the document from the copyright holder

UPLOADING RESOURCES: HOW TO Step 1: Get approval All accounts registered as Legal Clinics (the “Pro Bono” Member Type) will be automatically approved for uploading Other users can apply to get permission to upload documents by email info@pbla.ca requesting permission Requests should include the reasons you are seeking permission

UPLOADING RESOURCES: HOW TO Step 2: Prepare Your Document Ensure you hold copyright or have permission to upload the document Hyperlinks must be public (no log in required) and permanent Documents must be PDFs or image files (JPG, PNG, etc.) If the document is a DOC file, you can convert it to PDF using Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Word

UPLOADING RESOURCES: HOW TO Step 3: Uploading to the Online Resource Bank 1.Click “add a resource in the upper right hand side of the screen. 2.On the “Create Resource” page, fill out all of the required fields

UPLOADING RESOURCES: HOW TO Step 3: Continued 3.Include an email address and contact 4.Select the folder you think the document best belongs in 5.Select the file or hyperlink

UPLOADING RESOURCES: HOW TO Step 3: Continued 6(a). If uploading a link, paste the hyperlink into the “URL Link” field 6(b). If uploading a file, click “Browse” for the “File 1” field

UPLOADING RESOURCES: HOW TO Step 3: Continued 7.Select an “Area Topic” that fits the document’s description 8.Click Submit

UPLOADING RESOURCES: HOW TO Step 4: Approval Before being made available to other users of the Online Resource Bank, an Admin must first approve the document Approval may take up to one week Reasons a document might be denied approval No contact email submitted Duplicate Not an appropriate document type Not an appropriate document for the site
