Falcon Focus When you are out at night and you look up at the moon, what does it look like? T HE STORM WORSENS, AND THE PLANE CRASHES - HALF LANDS IN THE U NITED S TATES, THE OTHER HALF LANDS IN C ANADA. I N WHICH COUNTRY DO YOU BURY THE SURVIVORS ?

REMEMBER … Moon rotates on its axis and revolves around the earth while the earth revolves around the sun It takes 27 EARTH days for the moon to rotate on its axis It takes 30 EARTH days for the moon to revolve around the earth (one month)

Lunar Movement The moon DOES NOT create it’s own light. Any time we see the moon it is because the Sun is reflecting off of it. This causes the moon to appear to change shape

New moon Looks dark (no moon is seen) This is because the moon is between the Earth and Sun (the lit part is facing away from Earth)

Crescent moon Less than ½ of the sunlit part is visible on Earth

Quarter moon Exactly ½ of the moon is visible in the sky

Gibbous Moon More than ½ of the sunlit part of the moon is visible

Full Moon Sunlit portion of the moon is facing earth. Moon is completely visible.
