THE INTERNATIONALISATION PLAN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GRANADA Vice-Rector’s Office for International Relations and Development Cooperation

INTRODUCTION The University of Granada launched its first Internationalisation Plan in 2009. Its main aims were: To promote and develop the international dimension of teaching and research at the University of Granada in a sustainable way. To promote the management of our institution and the services it offers. To promote the participation of the University of Granada in all the initiatives that can improve its international dimension. Our Internationalisation Plan for 2013 consists of eight programmes and aims to reach the following goals: Vice-Rector’s Office for International Relations and Development Cooperation

INTRODUCTION Increasing and improving the quality of our university community international mobility. Increasing the number of students, teaching staff, researchers and administrative staff who visit the University of Granada. Gaining a general knowledge of university management structures, systems and teaching methods from other countries. Promoting stable international inter-university cooperation networks creation scheme. Supporting the design and the implementation of graduate and undergraduate double, multiple and joint international degrees. Promoting multilingualism among our students, teaching staff, researchers and administrative staff. Vice-Rector’s Office for International Relations and Development Cooperation

PROGRAMME 1: Support for student international mobility. Budget: €335,000 There are three categories: Maintenance and travel grants for non-European destinations (undergraduate students). Maintenance and travel grants for postgraduate students. There are two types of incentives: Board and lodging. Travel grants. Support for mobility within international double, multiple or joint degrees. Number of recipients in 2012: 234 Vice-Rector’s Office for International Relations and Development Cooperation

PROGRAMME 2: Support for international short training courses. Budget: €50,000 Its fundamental aim is to support and promote mobility for our students studying some specific degrees to do short training courses abroad. This sort of mobility cannot be funded by any European programme because it lasts less than the minimum duration stipulated in those programmes. Number of recipients in 2012: 55 Vice-Rector’s Office for International Relations and Development Cooperation

PROGRAMME 3: Support for teaching staff international mobility. Budget: €75,000 There are two categories: Additional funding to complement the LLP/Erasmus programme financial support.. Support for mobility to non-EU countries within the framework of bilateral agreements signed by the University of Granada. PROGRAMME 4: Support for administrative staff international mobility for training purposes. Budget: €50,000 The main aim of the Programme 4 is to make the development of our administrative staff’s career easier and it is divided into three sections: A two-week summer English course for university management at the National University of Ireland, Galway, or another European university which is in possession of an Erasmus charter. A one-week stay at any European university in possession of an Erasmus charter. Attending staff training weeks, seminars, conference, and so on. PROGRAMME 5: Pizes for excellence in international student mobility. Budget: €4,000 This programme tries to foster the quality of our student mobility by giving €1,000 in prize money to four of our students who prove to have made the most of their abroad mobility. Number of recipients in 2012: 4 awards and 7 mentions Vice-Rector’s Office for International Relations and Development Cooperation

PROGRAMME 6: Support for improving the multilingualism of our services. Budget: €15,000 Its main objective is to encourage our services to translate their web pages from Spanish into English to make them more accessible to the non-Spanish-speaking people. PROGRAMME 7: Supportfor the management of international relations at our Faculties and Schools. PROGRAMME 7: Support for the management of international relations at our Faculties and Schools. Budget: €80,000 This programme offers our faculties and schools the opportunity of recruiting some of our students who wish to do a paid six-month placement in our International Relations Offices there. The main task of those students is to inform other students of our international programmes. PROGRAMME 8: Support for new initiatives of internationalisation. Budget: €50,000 There are four categories: Financial support for implementing or consolidating steady academic and development co-operation networks. Financial support for writing application forms for applying for projects within the framework of the European programmes, such as LLP, Tempus, and so on. Support for the creation of international double, multiple or joint degrees. Support for other co-operation and internationalisation actions.
