What is a karyotype?? A karyotype is a picture of a person's chromosomes. In order to get this picture, the chromosomes are taken out of the cell, stained, and lined up. A picture of the chromosomes is then taken through a microscope.

How are karyotypes useful? They can be used by doctors to determine the gender of a baby They can be used by doctors to diagnose chromosomal genetic disorders
