2. 7 “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer 1 John 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life… To KNOW = ει ̓ δω = Gk. eido ̄ = i'-do to see (literally or figuratively); to know (in an intimate way); have close knowledge of, look at or on, be sure of, know to tell others, to clearly understand. Birthmarks help you to know you are born-again.

3. 7 “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer  When you are born naturally, you will have certain characteristics. You might even call these natural birthmarks.  But when you are “born-again spiritually” and said “I do” to Jesus Christ, you will definitely have supernatural characteristics which is what are called spiritual “birthmarks”.  Birthmarks are a good thing, and are a sign that you really belong to God.

4. 7 “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer  What are the birthmarks of your being born- again?  Living a good life? Living a moral life? Doing good deeds? Going to church? All of these are good, but:  Some people who do these things may or may not be born again…  Every true Believer should have some Birthmarks of Being Born-Again! Being born- again and filled with the Holy Spirit … brings courage and conviction to “live out loud” your Christian faith.

7. “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer 1.Birthmark 1 - Your Heart and Life Changed – 2 Cor. 5:17 “ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”  Your spirit part of you changed – radically. Romans 5:5  Mind, will and emotions change - also you need to renew your mind – Romans 12:2  Courage and commitment become real and you can walk in it.  The more radical the conversion that you had, the easier is the “keeping power” of your faith.

8. “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer 2.Birthmark 2 - The Holy Spirit came and indwelt you, and is working in you, and you will know it!  John 14:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.  His Indwelling Presence – a.Communicates the Love of the Father to you in a real way. b.Helps steer clear of sin and confess it quickly when it happens. c.Empowers you to live life victoriously and courageously. d.Gives you authority over the enemy and to stand up to him. e.The Fruit of the Holy Spirit want to come alive and out of you.

9. “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer 3.Birthmark 3- The Bible = the Word of God became alive and important to you.  For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12  The Bible is alive!

10. “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer 4.Birthmark 4 - You became Sons and Daughters to Almighty God and you will know it and have His authority. Ready to go for the Lord.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. John 1:12  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Rom 8:2  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Rom 8:14

11. “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer 5.Birthmark 5 - Joy came and continues to come supernaturally into your life.  "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. John 15:11  Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13  Even finding Joy in the most difficult situations.

12. “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer 6. Birthmark 6 – Supernatural power continues to come into your life.  Acts 1:5,8  Acts 2 :1-5  Mark 16:15-18  I Cor. 12:8-10  Therefore when you are born again and then able to be filled with the Holy Spirit, you are able in life to go upstream against the sinful “flow” of the world.

13. “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer 7.Birthmark 7 – Aware of the Seal of the Presence of the Holy Spirit which is the mark of the Holy Spirit.  Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God. 2 Cor. 1:21  who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. 2 Cor. 1:22  In Him (Jesus) you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. Ephesians 1:13

14. “Birthmarks” of a Born-Again Believer How to become born again? 1.Believe each person starts out as a sinner and needs a Savior. 2.Believe God loves you and sent His only Son as the Savior. 3.Believe that by your praying and repenting and asking His forgiveness, that you receive forgiveness and salvation and are saved. 4.Be Baptized as Jesus commanded. (This is coming up Sept. 6.) 5.Believe that God turns no one away.
