23 Answer  Aborigines are the native people of Australia and have occupied the continent/country for at least 40,000 years. They arrived from Southeast Asia and entered from the north. They built containers for storing water and wells to connect to underground water. They were nomadic people. Aborigines believe that Ayers Rock, the natives refer to it as Uluru and is sacred. They also believe in “Dreamtime”, a time when spirits walked the earth and told of the Creation of the world. Clans or communities join for daily food gathering and hunting.

Muslims, Buddhists, Jews and Hindus combine to make up less than 5% of the population.
