Does Smile Power deliver renewable energy straight into my home? That would be wonderful! But that's not how it works. Electricity to your premises comes from the National Electricity Market (NEM). The NEM comprises energy from both renewable and non- renewable sources. However, with Smile Power you can rest easy knowing an equivalent amount of renewable energy - matching your energy use - will be fed into the NEM.renewable energy This renewable energy supply will come from our parent company Hydro Tasmania, or another electricity generator, within the same calendar year you're billed for purchasing Smile Power.

13. Victorians can also enjoy the convenience of natural gas: A large number of Victorian households rely on natural gas as well as electricity for their energy requirements. So in addition to renewable energy, we also provide natural gas at competitive rates. Do you bundle electricity and gas? No. Our natural gas and electricity prices are competitive without offering them together. But you'll need to be an electricity customer before you can buy natural gas too. What about greenhouse gas reductions? Smile Power is a non-accredited product, as most of Hydro Tasmania's power stations were constructed prior to 1997. This means that Smile Power doesn't contribute to new renewable generation. Customers can't claim greenhouse gas emission reductions as a result of Smile Power energy purchases.
