2 Day 1 Goal setting and Fantasy Future ACTIVITIES

3 S.M.A.R.T GOALS S is for Specific/Simple M is for Measurable A is for Achievable R is for Realistic T is Time-limited

4 Begin with some simple, short-term goals. This will help you gain confidence and experience in goal setting. What can I do today, this week?

5 Goals need to be written down that are Measurable and Realistic. Writing them down will: Help keep them on your mind Increase your desire to achieve them How will I know that I have achieved my goal? Is it something that I have the means and motivation to achieve?

6 Goals should be Achievable Be sure your goals are reasonable and for something you are WILLING and ABLE to work for. With hard work, can I do this?

7 Set Time limits on reaching your goals. Set certain dates for a goal to be accomplished. However, sometimes you do have to change your dates or time lines At what date would I like to have achieved my goal?

8 Consider your values as you set goals. Is this something that is important to me? Will this benefit me in the future?

9 Goal Setting Sheet Pass out to each student a goal slip. Is it a SMART GOAL?

10 Goal Setting: Get a Driver’s License Own goal? My dream? Written down? Can I measure whether I received it or not? Short-term goals for today … to be able to drive tomorrow? Is it valuable to me? Can I achieve it? Time frame?

11 SMART Goal Worksheet 1.Counselor can email all 8 th grade students Goal and Fantasy Forms Students click on both attachments and save both forms to their Documents Folder and begin working on the Goal Worksheet. OR- 2. GO to Internet Explorer IMPORTANT to Save Document Open up Fargo Public Schools Website Go to “Schools” Select “Carl Ben Eielson Middle School” Click on “Student Services” Click on “Classroom Guidance Lessons” Click on “Goal Setting Form” Save finished document in Documents Folder as “Goal Setting Worksheet - 8th grade”

GO to Internet Explorer IMPORTANT to Save Document Open up Fargo Public Schools Website Go to “Schools” Select “Carl Ben Eielson Middle School” Click on “Student Services” Click on “Classroom Guidance Lessons” Click on “Fantasy Future Form” Save finished document in Documents Folder as “Fantasy Future 8th grade”

The work personalities are: Realistic (Doers) Investigative (Thinkers) Artistic (creators) Social (helpers) Enterprising (persuaders) Conventional (organizers)

21 Where to go to upload At the top right, select “Your Portfolio” Under the main bar, select “Your Profile” On the right side, there is a heading that says “Your Profile” “Upload a document” Select “Browse” Upload Goal Setting-8 th Grade Fantasy Future-8 th Grade

22 Uploading to RUReadyND Go to www.rureadynd.comwww.rureadynd.com Account Name: nd.last.first.mmddyyyy Password: Lunch ID If you are already in the RUREADYND then click on Student Profile and upload Documents (upload both documents from your Computer’s Document Folder).
