1 Book Week at St Teresa’s Primary School 1 st – 5 th March 2010

2  Parent volunteers came into each class to read a story in their native language. Each class enjoyed several stories over the week. The languages were: French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish &Turkish.

3  Each class enjoyed several stories over the week.

4  Sixth form pupils from the Holt School also came to read and act out stories in French and Spanish.

5  The Holt pupils read to the whole class and to small groups.

6  The Foundation stage enjoyed acting out ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’ in French.

7  The children wrote their own story books in French or Spanish, based on well-known stories, e.g. The Very Hungry Caterpillar; The Three Little Pigs and Handa’s Surprise.

8  On World Book Day, they dressed as a character from a book.

9  The Junior children were partnered with the Infant children and they shared their stories.

10  The best stories received an award from the Headteacher.

11  The children really enjoyed the experience and felt a great sense of achievement.
