+ PLC Goals * Teaching exemplary lessons that demonstrate motivation and closure * Teaching exemplary lessons that are evaluated using rubrics * Sharing best practices and resources as a collaborative team * Strengthening teaching practices using informal walkabouts and observations (look-fors) to provide feedback and model instructional strategies * Participating in professional development that provide “just in time” and “job embedded” resources to improve efficiency
3
+ Focus: Using Googledocs HCPSS Tech Conference https://sites.google.com/site/hcpssstc2010usinggapps/
4
+ Laura Hook -Teaching exemplary lessons that demonstrate motivation and closure - Wanted a new way to excite and motivate the students other than Rapid Fire in Inspiration or class discussion with a PowerPoint -Wanted it more interactive with all students participating at one time
5
+ Fifth Grade Anti-Bullying Posters
6
+ Fourth Grade Food Pyramid Health Lesson
7
+ Fourth Grade Responsible Netizen This document replaced the Inspiration organizer in this lesson.
8
+ Fourth Grade Howard County Scenarios
9
+ Stink Bugs! This was used to access students’ prior knowledge about stink bugs.
10
+ Second Grade iPhoto Cubes About Addition Each table had the same activity. Each student was assigned a letter to type their number sentence. We held discussion afterwards about each number sentence. This was used again at end of lesson to show understanding of concept.
11
+ First Grade Penguins This was done in Google Drawing. Students shared prior knowledge on penguins. The rectangles represent the classroom arrangement. Showed 3 snapshots of what it looks like to others on the same document. I chose 1 person who would have document open on laptop and typing information that tablemates share.
12
+ Rebecca Pfenninger Goal Teaching exemplary lessons that demonstrate motivation and closure
13
+ Creative Writing with Googledocs Rebecca used it to share a Creative Writing activity to go along with the book, Mystery of Harris Burdick. Students used the illustrations to collaborate on an original story. Students composed, edited, and revised using Google Documents.
14
+ Stacie Walker-Ortiz’s Goal Teaching exemplary lessons that demonstrate motivation and closure
15
+ Fifth Grade Ben Franklin As a part of the fifth graders unit on Inventors, we studied Benjamin Franklin. To begin the lesson, I showed a short video from Discovery Streaming about his life. Next, students used Google Spreadsheet to record the ideas they've learned from the video and ideas they have learned from their studies in the classroom.
16
+ Ben Franklin continued Closure: To complete our discussion about Benjamin Franklin's life, the students completed an exit ticket created using Google Forms.
17
+ Fourth Grade Responsible Netizen As a motivation activity about copyright, students read through six scenarios taken from http://teachingcopyright.org. Each table group responded in a Google spreadsheet.
18
+ Entry/Exit Ticket This Googledocs idea is from Tammy Worcester. It is a generic form used for motivation and closure. This has been used with grades 3-5.
19
+ Fifth Grade End-of-the-Year Glog Brainstorm Fifth grade students were assigned a subject area and worked as tables to brainstorm many ideas they learned in that area this year. Students are using these ideas to help them narrow down the focus of their glog.
20
+ Focus: Vocabulary and Rubrics Teaching exemplary lessons that are evaluated using rubrics
21
+ Tracey McKnight’s Goal Evaluation - students will reflect on learning and self-assess performance (rubrics)
22
+ Developing rubrics for self assessment.
23
+ Rubrics continued
24
+ Lisa Chick’s Goal Teaching exemplary lessons that demonstrate motivation and closure
25
+ Lisa uses iCal for Vocab Helped with classroom management and procedures. Students knew to login, look for vocab word, go to Type to Learn or First in Math. Helped focus and review vocab words.
26
+ Vocab words for iCal All the words are then posted somewhere in the room for easy reference.
27
+ Technology Vocabulary Bingo Laura Hook created this vocabulary activity using ComicLife to review vocabulary.
28
