History Archery dates back around 10,000 years, when bows and arrows were first used for hunting and warfare, before it developed as a competitive activity in medieval England. A tense and testing sport that requires immense reserves of skill and nerve, Archery is now practised in more than 140 countries around the world.

It consists of shooting arrows from a bow into a circular target trying to get as many points as possible. Men and women compete separately, both as individuals and in teams of three. The Target:

Olympic Games 2012: The first actual event of the 2012 Olympics set a precedent with 26 year-old South Korean archer Im Dong-Hyun setting a world record with a score of 699 out of a possible 700 during the Men’s Archery Qualifying Rounds. Something you wouldn’t expect from this accurate archer is that he is legally blind! Im Dong-Hyum was 76 yards away from his target and could only really see blurred colors and lines.
