Use colour Adapt but not too much How much time for each subject? When? Short bursts of study Do something you like before you sit down to revise

Use colour - link themes & points Put sticky notes around your room/house Make the information look interesting - charts & mindmaps with key points Invent questions – and answer them Vary the time – have short & longer activities Take sides – argue for and against Put it to music! Record your notes

Which side of your brain do you think you usually use the most? You probably thought left. These are all left- brain skills: writing in words, in lines, in lists, being logical.

Your brain thinks in colours and pictures If I say “your house” what pops into your head? So, if you want to remember something, draw or write it in colour HOUSE

Visual maps centred around topics. Better than just notes. Active involvement in information rather than just copying info as in notes. Makes use of visual memory. Can visually see association between topics. Allows more effective organisation. Gets rid of trivial details – only includes important basic information

It’s normal to get anxious and nervous. You only get nervous about the things that you’ve put effort into. Fight or flight; feeling sick, needing the toilet etc is your body’s way of getting you prepared for a big event.

1. Good revision space 2. Revision timetable – be organised 3. Concentrate on one subject at a time 4. Make notes/Use prompts/sticky notes 5. Use Revision guides & websites 6. Make up questions and answer them 7. Use mnemonics & mind maps 8. Get plenty of sleep and exercise and eat well 9. Leave time for fun 10. Be positive!
