31 Samuel Taylor Coleridge, an English poet, critic, philosopher, leader of the romantic movement, was born on October 21,1772, the son of a clergyman. He studied in Cambridge, but left without a degree. Later he began a lifelong friendship with the poet William Wordsworth. His famous works are The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Kubla Khan, etc.
