Final Exam Format June 10 th – Multiple Choice (50%) o 50 Questions on Scantron o Covers all topics discussed including: Communication, Media Literacy Paradigm, Shannon- Weaver models, Johari Window, advertising, comics, political cartoons, animation. June 11 th – Essay(50%) o 4 or 5 paragraphs (Standard structure: Intro + Body + Body + Conclusion) o Formal writing rules apply: Proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. o Related to Advertising in the Media June 12 th – Make-ups

Essay Topic Format – formal essay with multiple paragraphs: intro + body + body + conclusion. o Introduction should include a grabber statement, some background on the topic and a thesis statement that answers the question by incorporating both of the media entities that you plan on analyzing in the essay. o Each body paragraph should focus on one on the mediums. It should have a clearly defined topic sentence, as well as specific examples drawn from class discussions/lessons. One of the most significant aspects in all media today is the incorporation of advertising in major media. You will need to pick TWO mediums to analyze in the essay. Each one should be fully explained. Analyze them in terms of the advertising methods, using proper terminology as we discussed in this class and how the media relies on advertising for profits. o Provide specific terminology on the cost to advertise in these TWO media. o Explain how demographics are utilized on these TWO media to bring consumers to these products and services. o How has advertising influenced the message conveyed on these two media? o You must provide specific examples to demonstrate the impact advertising on these two media.
