Agrartechnik Hohenheim 3 Introduction Skin and rectal temperature, and respiration rate of dairy cows increase with the increasing of the ambient temperature Therefore, installing a cooling system is highly recommended for dairy farms located in hot climates When the temperature exceeds the upper critical temperature (25 o C) a great degree loss in milk production occurs

Agrartechnik Hohenheim 5 Introduction Objectives The objective is to develop a mathematical model in order to: configure the microsprinklers and fans cooling system specify its engineering parameters, e.g. pump discharge & pressure calculate capital investment and fixed, variable, and total costs

Agrartechnik Hohenheim 6 An electronic spark map was developed using MS-Excel Materials and Methods A mathematical model was developed for designing cooling systems The mathematical model was then integrated into the spark map Model validation was carried out using data of 4 cooling systems COV and σ were calculated C# was used to develop a computer software

Agrartechnik Hohenheim 7 Using the mathematical model, the spark map calculates the following: o discharge and pressure of cooling system pump o length and diameter of cooling system pipelines o number of microsprinklers o number of cooling fans o costs of the configured cooling system Materials and Methods
