Audience Research Results
2
What Genre do you think this track can be classed as? Our highest scoring result was answer 3, UK Hip-Hop, this result builds confidence in our concept as the genre of the track is UK Hip-Hop, as the audience is able to clearly identify this our group can use numerous typical conventions of the genre within our music video. However it should also be noted that one person answered ‘other’ claiming the track was Rap. Although the genres are similar it is important not to complicated them both. We as a group, shall therefore have to carefully place our genre conventions ensuring they do not give of the Rap genre impression.
3
On a scale of 1 - 5, how much do you like this song? 1 being high - 5 being very low The majority of answers are above 3, meaning therefore the majority of the people we surveyed like the song, as we used our target audience as our audience for the research this result was expected. This result again builds confidence in our choice of song.
4
Which would fit this song best? This result would suggest to us that the overall opinion of the song is best fitted to a narrative based video. Furthermore this coincides with our own opinions of the song in that a narrative based performance, with elements of performance would fit the song best.
5
When listening to the song, what images do you picture in your head? “Numerous actors planning different social groups.” “A man walking along a city environment. Very busy with things developing around him.” Analysing this particular open questioned result we found that the majority imagined a male protagonist walking along a crowded street. However one applicant suggested the inclusion of performance shots whilst showing the narrative based shots as well, our group found this interesting and are taking it into consideration as with a narrative based performance it will be increasingly difficult to include lip sync, whereas with a performance based performance this can be achieved easier.
6
Which image best fits the voice of the artist? The image of the actual artist is Image 5, interestingly only half of the entries noted this, meaning that our group has a large amount of leeway to choose our protagonist actor due to the song have a low grain of voice.
7
What type of music video do you picture when listening to the song? Surprisingly everybody who completed this question voted for a Humorous type of music video. This clear majority strongly pushes our group towards a humorous music video.
8
What do you believe is the most important part of a music video? The highest scoring for importance level for this question was Interesting camera shots. Our group will therefore ensure the use of a variety of different shots and to maintain camera movement. Costume scored second highest for this question, however has a group we predicted for our concept this would come highest as the narrative is based around the costumes within the music video.
9
Please note any suggestions/ideas you have regarding our music video? “Could be 'tacky' if it's not done properly” The overall impression of the video is that people believe if the attempted humour does not work the video will be an extreme failure. The key importance of the video is the need for successful humour.
