What we will cover What is Sure Step? Benefits of Sure Step methodology Project phases as per sure step
3
What is Sure-Step? Microsoft Dynamics Sure Step methodology is a unified project management methodology specifically designed for Microsoft Dynamics products – Microsoft Dynamics AX – Microsoft Dynamics GP – Microsoft Dynamics NAV – Microsoft Dynamics SL – Microsoft Dynamics CRM
4
Benefits of Sure-Step Methodology A consistent methodology, project management tools and advice, and field-tested best practices that enable consultants to more efficiently deploy, migrate to, configure, and upgrade Microsoft Dynamics solutions. Drives productivity by providing a consistent approach and a standard set of tools and templates that help ensure customers’ projects are completed efficiently, adding immediate business value, which promotes high customer satisfaction. Helps partners to work more easily with other partners—as well as with Microsoft Consultants, when appropriate—on large, multi-site, or multi-region implementations. It also helps partners work more efficiently with independent software vendors (ISVs) who provide third-party solutions or expertise. Assurance that you are using the same approach as others involved in the project to drive toward a successful customer implementation.

Implementation Phases Deployment Design Development Analysis Operation
6
Analysis Phase Purpose: – The Analysis phase represents the official start of the implementation. This phase defines the activities required to initiate and effectively plan the entire project. Key objectives: – Finalization and approval of the project charter. – Finalization and approval of the project plan. – Execution of the project Kickoff meeting. – Documentation and approval of functional requirements. – Execution and documentation of Fit Gap Analysis.
7
Analysis Phase Deliverables: – Project Charter – Project Plan – Functional Requirements Document (FRD) – Fit Gap Analysis Spreadsheet
8
Analysis Phase Milestones – Formal Project Kickoff Meeting – Customer Approval of Project Charter and Project Plan – Customer Approval of Requirements and Fit Gap Analysis
9
Design Phase Purpose: – The goal of the Design phase is to define how the business requirements will be implemented. The phase includes configuration of the overall Microsoft Dynamics solution and the design of specific customizations needed to satisfy business requirements identified during the Analysis phase.
10
Design Phase Deliverables: – Core Team Training – Functional Design Documents (FDDs) for Fits (Configurations) Functional Design Documents (FDDs) for Gaps (Customizations) FDDs for Requirements identified as Gaps in Standard Solution FDDs for Integration and Interface Requirements FDDs for Data Migration Requirements – Technical Design Documents (TDDs) – Solution Design Document (SDD)
11
Design Phase Milestones – The Data Upgrade Checklist has been created, reviewed, and accepted – All existing custom code, workflow code, user interface code, Integrations, and Interfaces have been reviewed to determine what components will be included in the upgrade and to identify any conflicts and planned contingencies.
12
Development Phase Purpose: – The goal of the Development phase is to build and test the system components defined and approved in the design specifications, including developing the customizations, integrations and interfaces, and data migration processes. The major deliverables include the complete system configuration, completion and freezing of code for customizations, integrations and interfaces, and data migration.
13
Development Phase Deliverables: – Training Guides/Documentation – Final Business Process Models – Final System Configuration – Final Custom Code Development – Solution Testing (Process, Integration, and Data Acceptance) completed – User Acceptance Test Scripts – Final Production Environment Specification – Final Integration and Interface Code Development – Final Data Migration Code Development
14
Development Phase Milestones – Training guides complete – Process models complete – System Configuration and Setup complete – Development complete – Solution Testing complete – User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Test Scripts complete – Non-Production environments handoff complete (Enterprise Projects)
15
Deployment Phase Purpose: – The Deployment phase is where all the efforts of the project team come together for a successful transition to the new Microsoft Dynamics™ solution. Key activities in this phase include End User Training, User Acceptance Testing, and the actual cutover to the new or upgraded production environment. For Enterprise projects, Performance Testing is also completed.
16
Deployment Phase Deliverables: – End User Training – User Acceptance Test Results – Final Data Migration – Final System Readiness & Go-Live Checklist – Production Environment – Cutover to Production
17
Deployment Phase Milestones – End User Training complete – User Acceptance Testing complete – Production Environment ready – Final Data Migration complete (excluding Upgrade Projects) – System Go-Live
18
Operation Phase Purpose: – The Operation phase defines the activities required to close the project, provide post-production support, and transition the solution and knowledge to the customer. Key objectives of this phase include providing post–go-live support, transitioning the solution to support, performing a final quality audit, and project closure.
19
Operation Phase Deliverables: – Project Closure Report – Final Delivery of all Project Deliverables to the customer – Documented Lessons Learned
20
Operation Phase Milestones – Post–Go-Live Support complete – Transition of solution to Support complete – Formal Project Closure, Acceptance, and Sign-off
