Introduction Mission San Luis Rey was found on June 13,1769 by Father Fermin Lasuen. It was used as a mission from1796-1882. It was the 18 th mission.

Location The mission is forty miles north of San Diego and just a few miles east of Oceanside in San Diego County. The mission is between Interstate 5 and Interstate 15 on Highway 76 in North San Diego County

People of the Mission Men The Luiseño Indian men were hunters and had to hunt for their families and tribe. They used bows made out of wood and string with rope woven from flax and heap and the arrows were made from wood, arrowheads were made from stone clipped from a sharp point and feathers at the end to make them fly towards their target. Women The women also provided food for the family. They gathered seeds, grasses, acorns and berries to eat. Acorns were stable of the Luiseno diet. They were used to make a kind of porridge and to make breads. The acorns were knocked from oak tree branches which large sticks and collected in baskets. Once the acorns were collected they would lay them out in the sun to dry. Children The children didn't go to school, instead they learned from their family, tribe and other tribes.Once they are old enough to take on their tribe responsibilities such as hunting, gathering, or caring for the younger ones in the family, they take on some of these important jobs themselves.

Hardships Some of the hardships for the were Luiseño Indians were sickness, death, and the jobs they did all day long.For example, cooking, gathering crops, mending walls, making cloths, milking cows, studying their lessons, picking fruit, weaving baskets, cleaning, teaching children, and aiding the sick.

Conclusion My conclusion is that Mission San Luis Rey De Francia is a very interesting mission and I hope to learn more about Mission San Luis Rey De Francia.

Interesting Facts On the day Mission San Luis Rey was found 54 people were baptized. Mission San Luis Rey De Francia “King Of The Missions" has California’s first oak tree planted there witch is still alive.
