NOT THE SAME AS LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE Used to help you locate a specific spot on a flat map Uses a grid of lines crossing at right angles On the map the LINES are numbered not the spaces

NORTHINGS AND EASTINGS EASTINGS: Vertical lines on the grid system # from west to east on the map (left to right) #’s increase towards the east
