How Are Women Portrayed In Each Play? Ruth is portrayed as mean, hardworking, and honest Mama is portrayed as sweet and caring Linda is portrayed as innocent and pushed around Beneatha is portrayed as hardworking, independent, and sassy

A Raisin in the Sun: Women’s role in the family Beneatha: daughter of Mama and sister of Walter. She dreams of being a doctor and is going to school to become a doctor. She also is in a confusing relationship with two guys. She also has worries for Walter and wants to help the family.“What are you talking about Ruth?! Listen I'm going to be a doctor and I'm not gonna let any boy get in the way of that yet.” Ruth: mother of Travis and Walter’s wife. Ruth is a hard working women who is responsible for feeding the family. She try's very hard to have a happy family. She is always in a very difficult relationship with her husband, who fights with her a lot on whats right. Mama: a hard working old women who is the maid of a wealthy family. She is the mother of Walter and cares very deeply for the happiness of the family.

Death of a Salesman: Women’s role in the family Linda: a farely aged women who is this wife of Willy- a business man. She worries deeply for him too and knows of his suicide attempts. She has 2 sons(Biff and Happy) and she lives as a house wife.

What does the playwright seem to be saying about how woman should act? The playwright seems to be saying that women should do all the work in the house like cleaning, folding clothes, making food, etc. The man in the house goes out and works. The stories also gives the impression that the men are the head of the house hold and the women don’t have as much of a say.
