12. Brancusi took the light of his native land with him, on the French territory, and tried to send it to the heights in an original way, by building the column of the infinite. Constantin Brancusi used to call it ‘a project for a column, which, on a larger scale, could support the vault of heaven’ All the peoples on earth can rediscover their ideals in it. It consists of an endless succession of identical units (pyramidal frustums joined on the larger base) with a half- unit at the top.
