3  - this is a way for geographers to describe the earth in a constant way.  - there are 5 categories: 1) Location 2) Place 3) Region 4) Human- environment interaction 5) Movement

4  Essential question- “Where is it?”

5  Essential Question-”What is it like there?”

6  Essential Question- “ How are the places similar and different?”

7  Essential Question- “How do people relate to the world?”

8  Essential Question- “How do people, goods and ideas move from place to place?”

9  We will look at the 5 themes of geography a little more in depth.

10  Two ways of describing location A) Absolute Location- exact place on earth - Vocabulary Sheet B) Relative Location- describes a place in comparison

11  -we can determine what a place is like using: A) Natural Resources B) Physical Features (physical features worksheet) C) Climate (climate zone worksheet) Climate- weather conditions over a long period of time
