6. BUILDING A LEARNING COMMUNITY Student misbehavior is lessened when students are actively involved in their classroom and their learning. Classrooms that provide student involvement are called learning communities. A learning community is a classroom that: provides students with support, allows students to take risks, and encourages students to help one another. Is designed to help students feel respected, safe, and valued in order to help them be open to learning new skills
