Self-introduction I am Joy Knight. I live in Georgia, I am 58 years. I have my Bachelor of Art in Psychology and also in Sociology. I have been working with children for more than ten years.

Summary of the position applying for I will be applying for the position of school counselor. I have expert communication skills, tested in 2008. Association’s (ASCA) National Model for school Counseling Programs Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) Master’s in degree in school counseling

Philosophy of Education I believe that it is critical to remember to enjoy my students and everything they have to offer. I may struggle a little if things are going wrong, but there is always a way to fix the problem. No matter what, there is always a way to make a change.

Classroom Management Plan I believe classroom management is the key component in any educational setting. “Having the right environment for all students to learn is my major goal of implementing good classroom management– without it the students would not be able to learn.” (Feldman, 2010) The Class Pledge Class Reward System Class Consequences Role of students in the classroom Role of teacher in classroom

Different School Models School A: Private School Private schools are independently run, do not teach on the same curriculum as public schools, and are funded through tuition, non public funds and religious organizations. Class numbers are low in private schools because only families that can afford to pay tuition. Private schools use what technology is available Private school teachers are motivators for students Private school enrollment are more middle and upper class

School B: Public school Public schools are funded from state, Local, and government funds Public schools have a diverse enrollment Public schools cannot deny any child from enrolling. Public schools have what technology is needed and is used on a daily basis. Public schools teachers are motivators for students Public schools through having technology gives students the ability to advance into the 21 st Century Skills

Effective Lesson Planning and Design A good lesson plan with good learning objectives. A second lesson goal is one that gives students practice developing to automaticity Research is one of the most important components in effective teaching and learning, thus the best place to start Developing clear learning objectives can also help develop conceptual understand for cognition “Clear and precise learning objectives will drive effective lessons” (Newman, 2013)

Assessment Matters Assessment is a vital part of educational practice and a core dimension in shaping classroom practice and defining curriculum. “Assessment is about making schools accountable, and providing students with certificates, as well as – and probably most important– creating assessment for learning” (Johannesen, 2013) Traditionally, summative assessment has had strong standing in assessment of learning. However, the notion of formative assessment has been the object of substantial attention and is considered to be the most powerful factor in promoting learning in the 21 st century

Professional Learning Communities Professional Learning Communities or (PLC), is a group of educators that meet regularly, share expertise, and works collaboratively to improve teaching skills and the academic performance of students In PLC, teams are often built around two broad purposes: (1) improving the skills and knowledge of educators through collaborative study, expertise exchange, and professional dialogue, (2)Improving the educational aspirations, achievement, and attainment of students through leadership and teaching.
