Like most forms of complex industrial machinery, MineARC Refuge Chambers require regular servicing to maintain optimum performance. Without servicing, vital operational componentry within the refuge may become compromised and fail to work during an emergency. Of particular concern are components that receive the most day-to-day wear and tear whilst the refuge operates in stand-by mode, including filter elements, door seals, mufflers and vent valves. Over time, these parts inevitably degrade and break down. MineARC’s global service team are here to help make servicing easy. Our office support team are on call seven days a week to answer your questions and provide solutions to your problems. Out in the field, our qualified service technicians are available to travel to your site in order to perform a fully comprehensive chamber service.

MineARC Service Technicians Without regular refuge servicing, parts within the refuge chamber necessary to the ongoing performance of vital life-support systems (such as Oxygen supply, CO/CO 2 scrubbing and air-conditioning), may become compromised and fail to work during an emergency. MineARC MineSAFE Refuge Chambers require regular servicing every four months (effectively three times a year). TunnelSAFE and ChemSAFE require service every six months and, in the United States, CoalSAFE Refuge Chambers require servicing annually. This variance in service timelines is based on the number of consumables each refuge typically goes through. During a service, a MineARC Technician will perform a full refuge chamber check; recommending and fitting replacement parts if necessary. Regardless of whether sites conduct their own service checks, MineARC recommends an on-site service check and safety audit every year to ensure servicing is being properly carried out.

Client Upgrade Assist Program MineARC's key priority is to offer the most advanced and innovative safe refuge solutions on the market. Our success in the industry is achieved by listening closely to our clients‘ requirements; allowing us to continue to develop products that are safer, more user friendly and more cost effective. The MineARC Client Upgrade Assist Program offers a range of upgrade options that will improve the operation and efficiency of your chamber, both during an emergency and while in stand-by mode. All upgrades are conducted on-site, and in most cases do not require chamber repositioning. Our qualified service technicians will conduct a comprehensive chamber audit and certification following the upgrade, ensuring the chamber is officially recertified to meet industry standards. Dramatically reduce refuge chamber operating costs Improve the operation and safety of chambers Achieve site-wide consistency of refuge chamber fleet Increase the efficiency of training and logistics Receive regular product support and access to readily available spare parts

Series IV Upgrade Client Upgrade Assist Program The MineARC Series IV Electrical Scrubbing System is considered to be the most advanced safe refuge technology in the world. The Series IV boasts all of the improvements of the Series III system, plus a host of additional features including a superior digital control system and intelligent voice audio navigation (i.V.A.N). Additional improvements include pre-packaged MARCISORB Chemical Cartridges, intuitive operation, motion sensor logging and a modular controller design. All MineARC refuge chambers and safe havens currently installed with a Series I, II or III scrubber can be upgraded to a Series IV control system. MineARC technicians can also retro-fit most non-MineARC chambers with the Series IV. Advanced digital control system i.V.A.N (Intelligent Voice Audio Navigation) Pre-packaged MARCISORB Chemical Cartridges (see pg 7) Efficient chemical usage based on CFD analysis Intuitive operation Motion sensor event logging Modular controller design Battery monitoring and diagnostics Superior battery charging

CAMS Upgrade Client Upgrade Assist Program The MineARC Compressed Air Management System (CAMS) is a dedicated air management unit designed specifically for MineARC Refuge Chambers. CAMS offers a range of features aimed at reducing running costs and improving operational safety during an emergency. All existing MineARC Refuge Chambers can be retro-fitted with CAMS. Installation requires a simple upgrade to the rear of the chamber, conducted on-site by a qualified MineARC Service Technician, who will complete a full chamber audit and service at the same time. Benefits include: Easier installation and faster service time Flood protection valve for automatic mine air shut off Air toxicity monitoring and emergency shut off valve Optimisation of mine air usage, resulting in considerably reduced operational costs Security against over-pressurisation
8
Plenum Upgrade Client Upgrade Assist Program MineARC Systems is now offering all Series I, II and III owners the opportunity to upgrade to the latest CO/CO2 scrubbing technology - pre-packaged MARCISORB Chemical Cartridges. MARCISORB Chemical Cartridges are an innovative alternative to the traditional 'free-pour' chemicals found in all MineSAFE Chambers with Series I, II and III scrubbing systems. Cartridges are much safer and easier to load than free-pour methods; with no direct chemical handling, no spillage, and no uncertainty. The cartridges simply slot into place on top of a plenum tray - a simple upgrade to your existing system. If your chemicals are due to expire, changing to the new MARCISORB Cartridge system will provide significant savings over the long term life of your chamber. Features include: A quick and simple upgrade process Allows for easier, more accurate chemical change-over More efficient chemical usage Provides significant cost savings over the life of the chamber

A commissioning test should be carried out by a qualified individual whenever a permanent or semi-permanent refuge chamber is installed for the first time underground, and each occasion that it is moved to a new location. When refuge chambers are left out of commission or are not serviced for an extended period of time their chamber certification becomes invalid. This means MineARC cannot guarantee their efficacy in an emergency situation. MineARC Refuge Chamber commissioning is the only sure way of knowing your workers are adequately protected when working underground. A MineARC qualified technician or representative can conduct a commissioning test upon delivery of your refuge chamber. Chamber Commissioning
10
Chamber commissioning includes: A differential atmospheric pressure test to ensure the integrity of the refuge chamber, including seals and regulators A positive pressure test to ensure the correct operation of vents Testing the electrical power support in all operational states (mains on, stand-by and recharge capability) Independent power supply in changeover to stand-alone condition, and also in change back to stand-by or recharge mode Chamber air quality testing to ensure it is free of water and hydrocarbon contamination Testing other critical systems (e.g. climate control system, oxygen regulator, compressed air management system) to ensure they are operational Chamber Commissioning
11
Chamber Certification MineARC System Refuge Chambers play a vital role in an underground operation’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP). As refuge chambers are critical lifesaving equipment they need to be maintained at 100% operating condition at all times. When refuge chambers are left out of commission or are not serviced for an extended period of time their chamber certification becomes invalid. This means MineARC cannot guarantee their efficacy in an emergency situation. MineARC Refuge Chamber Certification is the only sure way of knowing your workers are adequately protected when working underground.

Chamber Safety Audits As refuge chambers utilise an array of complex processes that all work together, it is crucial that refuge chambers undergo regular safety audits. An audit is the best way to immediately identify issues and potential risks to be addressed with regards to the safe operation of the chamber. As part of the Client Upgrade Assist Program, MineARC offers our 50-Point Safety Audit free of charge. Conducted by a fully trained MineARC service technician, this audit is crucial to the continued optimal performance of your refuge chambers. During the comprehensive audit the MineARC technician will run through all lifesaving systems within the chamber, testing they are operating at 100%. In addition, we can provide refresher operator training at the same time, refreshing all site personnel in the emergency operation of a MineARC Refuge Chamber.
