USE YOUR TIME WISELY Time is money… It is something we all have heard. But really it is. Your time is valuable. You are valuable. Take advantage of this short time to update information in Naviance. This only helps us help you. Use this time to complete the career assessments, update any applications, and look for at least two possible scholarships.

COMPUTER LAB ASSIGNMENTS FOR SENIORS For Computer Lab activities put a sign on your door so the office or students coming late can find your class. Time is limited on computer days – have students report directly to the computer lab and log in immediately to get started. If you have a COW, try to have it in your room before ACU and have students setting up and turning on the laptops at the very beginning. This may not always be possible but can be a time-saver. 7 Fall Needs Assessment for Seniors Please complete the Fall Needs Assessment for Seniors TODAY! NOT A SINGLE SENIOR HAS TAKEN THIS YET AS IT WAS JUST ACTIVATED! Teachers – please do not “fall” for this excuse. We, as counselors, will use this data to help you with personal/social information and also your college information. Thanks for your help. It is a short survey but we appreciate your help and answers.

Click on the “ABOUT ME” tab. Click on the Fall Senior Needs Assessment. TAKE THE ASSESSMENT.

WHEN YOU ARE DONE WITH THE ASSESSMENT, USE YOUR TIME! You can choose to do many things with the remaining time in Naviance. There is plenty to keep you busy. Please use this time on Naviance wisely as some of you may not “budget” much time outsides of school for this. Update Resume Search for Careers/Complete the Career Interest Profiler/Search Road Trip Nation Search for scholarships and/or register on scholarship websites. Add colleges to your applying to list/search for more colleges. Work on your Common Application. You could even register for an ACT or SAT!

IF you have updated all your applications, go to the “ABOUT ME” tab. RESUMES Update your resume or start your resume. Remember to add specific events you did this past summer. If you are just starting your resume, add only items completed in grades 9-this senior year. It is a great idea to write descriptions within the boxes about your topic. For example, if I said I did a mission trip this summer, I would want to list action verbs of what I specifically did…. Mission Trip to Mexico July 2014 Taught Sunday School Organized a food pantry Built a water supply etc.

IF you have updated all your applications, GO TO “CAREER” TAB Career Interest Profiler – Holland Interest Inventory Many of you have NOT completed the Holland Interest Inventory. Please take this time to complete it now. This can be very helpful if you are not sure what you want to do in college for a major. ROAD TRIP NATION – Videos about careers and qualities There are tons of videos to help support what you want to do or learn more about what you might want to do.

IF you have updated your applications, resume, and assessments, GO TO “COLLEGE TAB” Scroll down to the “Scholarships & Money” section and click on NATIONAL SCHOLARHIPS SEARCH. two Find and read about two scholarships you might start applying for in the next few weeks.

Scholarships You may also sign up for additional scholarship databases. If you have time, you may register for any of these free websites for scholarships. www.fastweb.com http://www.cappex.com/ https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/scholarship- search https://www.scholarships.com/ http://www.meritaid.com/ http://www.zinch.com/

When You Are Done…. Please log out of the computer and power it down. Thank you for participating.
