3. Climate The weather in Asia depends on where you are, because it is so big! There are deserts, jungles, plains, and many different kinds of land.

4. History Many great civilizations grew out of Asia, in countries like Japan, China, Thailand, India, and Iraq.

5. China China has the biggest population in the world with about 1.3 billion people. China’s capital city is Beijing. China has many world wonders including the Wall of China and the Terra Cotta warriors. Mandarin Chinese is the language.

6. Chinese civilization is one of the oldest. It goes back over 6,000 years. Emperors ruled China for 2,000 years (unified). In 1949 a new government was started, and the country’s name changed to “The People’s Republic of China”.

8. Russia It is the largest country in the world. It’s population is about 143 million. It’s capital city is Moscow. The country covers 11 time zones. The official language is Russian.

9. They were the first country to put a man in space. Russia has borders with 16 countries.

11. India The second largest population in the world with 1.2 billion. Was once a British colony, became a country in 1950. New Delhi is the capital city. India has the Taj Mahal, one of the world wonders. The national languages are Hindi and English.

13. Japan Japan is made up of over 3,000 islands. Tokyo is the capital city and the biggest city in the world (by population). Japan has about 130 million people. They speak Japanese, although there is no official language.

14. The only Atom bombs dropped in history were on the Japanese cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima during World War II. The characters in Japan’s name mean “sun origin country”, this is why Japan is called the land of the rising sun.
