2. Petitcodiac river Today We are going to be talking about the ecosystem for the Petitcodiac river and ways we can prevent problems with the water and what we can do to change the mess in the river. We are also going to be explaining why the amount of species has dropped since they closed the causeway.

3. Problems with the Petitcodiac River The ecosystem has many problems since people closed the gate for the Petitcodiac river, it caused a lot of fish and other species to die. But other major problems are erosion, erosion has been causing a lot of damage to the Petitcodiac river and the city.

4. How can we prevent it? In order to prevent all the problems with the Petitcodiac river we would have to keep the gate open so fish can come to the river and have a place to live, it would make the water cleaner because the water from the ocean would enter the river and make it cleaner. Other ways to help is to not kill as many trees for paper because trees also give us oxygen and better air.

5. How can we change the ecosystem? We can change the ecosystem by testing the water to make sure that its getting cleaner. We can also clean the water so it does not get dirtier then it already is. If people buy more electric cars that would not pollute the area as much. People can also stop littering too, because that’s also killing animals.

6. Why is there a Decrease of Species? The past several years there has been a huge decrease of animals in the Petitcodiac river because they closed the causeway and all the water from the ocean no longer joins with the river the fish and other species don’t like this because the river is not as clean as it used to be. If we opened up the causeway fish would enter the river because the water would be clean again.
