Research Results! The Bio-Sand Filter of Course 1. Water is poured into the top. 2. Diffuser plate evens flow into the sand bed. 3. Bio layer preys on the pathogens. 4. Water passes down through layers of sand and gravel. 5. Clean water flows from spout immediately at one liter per minute. A concrete filter with layers of sand and gravel eliminates impurities as water passes through.
