Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger is an Austrian-American actor, Republican politician, bodybuilder, and businessman, currently serving as the 38-th Governor of California. He was elected on October 7, 2003 in a recall election which removed sitting Governor Gray Davis from office. Schwarzenegger was sworn to serve the remainder of Davis' term, which lasts until January 2007.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is home to Austria. He was born July 30, 1947 in the small village in Austria Arnold's father was a policeman, his mother – a housewife. The family lived very modestly. From early childhood Arnold was accustomed to physical labor. Parents paid much attention to the education of children - Arnold and his older brother.

From early childhood, Arnold took an interest in the sport - he was fond of football. At age 14, the future champion sports interests changed - he started in the gym. Parents were against son and workouts bodybuilding considered a waste of time. But Arnold continued to train and to 17 years has achieved impressive results.

After working in the United Kingdom and with $20 in his pocket and he moved to the U.S. in 1968. He became a U.S. citizen in 1983, although he has also retained his Austrian citizenship. During this time, he earned a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Superior where he graduated with degrees in international marketing of fitness and business administration in 1979.

Arnold Schwarzenegger dreamed of acting career and first appeared on the big screen in 1970 in the film "Hercules in New York." Success came after starring in the movie "Conan the Barbarian“. After this picture acting career Arnold came up. Best his films began: "Predator," "The Terminator," "Twins," "The Sixth Day", "End of the World", "Junior", "Running Man", "Total Recall."

Schwarzenegger married TV journalist Maria Shriver, niece of late President John F. Kennedy. The couple have four children: daughters Katherine and Christina, and sons Patrick and Christopher. Together, the couple own a home in the fabled Kennedy Compound.

Schwarzenegger is a Republican, he was appointed Chairman of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports in the administration of George H. W. Bush from 1990 to 1993. During that time, Schwarzenegger traveled across the U.S. promoting physical fitness to kids and lobbying all 50 governors in support of school fitness programs".

In 2003 Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California It was his most notable new role. He was sworn in the office of Governor. He spoke briefly: " This election was not about replacing one man. It was not replacing one party. It was about changing the entire political climate of our state".

In 2006 - he was re-elected for a second term. Due to his acting career, Schwarzenegger was nicknamed "The Running Man" in politics. Political activities of the former bodybuilder forced him to give up acting roles. According to the US Constitution, the governor can not be re-elected for a third term, so the January 3, 2011 Arnold Schwarzenegger left his post of governor.
