Attending tutorials can be very beneficial. 1.You get to know your teacher better. 2.You get one-on-one assistance. 3.You can review and check your work with the teacher. 4.Your attendance shows your teacher that you’re trying. 5.Always attend tutorials when you need to do make-up work. Result = GOOD GRADES!!!

1. When do I start? a. (10 th & 11 th grade) Make a list of the colleges you would like to attend; use the internet: https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org BigFuture b. (11 th grade-Spring) Take college entrance exams such as the SAT & ACT c. (12 th grade – Fall) Begin filling out the online applications and save them using a PIN. Some housing applications are taken as early as Sept. 1 st.

2. How do I get accepted? a. Apply on time b. Meet the entrance requirements c. Top 10% = automatic acceptance to Texas public colleges (if required paperwork is complete by deadlines) -UT = currently top 7-8% d. Holistic review process. Student does not meet automatic admission requirements but is considered based on entire body of work during high school.

It better reflects what you’re learning in class. “SAT vocabulary words” are gone. Two words you won’t see on the test: “prevaricator” and “sagacious”. You may see a word like “synthesis” which you’re more likely to use again. There’s no penalty for guessing. You’ll receive points for the questions you get right, but won’t be penalized for choosing the wrong answer. It focuses on the math that matters the most for college and a wide variety of careers.
