3. The Bay of Pigs was a strategic attack organized by President Eisenhower, but carried out by President Kennedy. On April 16 th & 17 th, 1961, US troops along with Cuban exiles were sent to invade Cuba. It was a huge military failure resulting in the death of almost all personnel.

4. At 12:30 pm, on November 22, 1963, during a motorcade in Dallas, Texas, 35 th President John F. Kennedy was fatally shot by Lee Harvey Oswald, while riding alongside his wife Jacqueline. It is debated to this date if Oswald acted alone, even though the Warren Commission resulted in confirming that Oswald was the lone shooter.

5. On December 3,1967, Lewis Washkansky, 53,was the first person to receive a heart transplant. This operation took place in Cape Town, South Africa, from donor Denise Darval, 25, who died in a car accident. After the surgery, Washkansky was put on drugs to suppress his immune system, but died 18 days later from double pneumonia.
