6. Wall of the Heart EPICARDIUM- outer layer, protects the heart by reducing friction MYOCARDIUM- middle layer, consists of cardiac muscle tissue that pumps blood out of the heart chambers ENDOCARDIUM- inner layer, houses specialized fibers that conduct cardiac impulses
