2. Compass Rose ► A symbol used to show directions.

3. Cardinal Directions ► Main directions on the Compass Rose. ► North, East, South, West

4. Intermediate Directions ► The directions in between the Cardinal Directions. ► Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast

5. Map Key or Legend ► Shows what the symbols on the map represent.

6. Map Scale ► A symbol on the map that tells how many units (miles, feet, etc.) an inch represents; used to figure out distance on a map.

7. Hemisphere ► ‘Hemi’ means half. ► So hemisphere means half of the sphere. ► Earth is divided into 4 hemispheres.

8. Northern & Southern Hemisphere ► The equator divides the Northern & Southern Hemispheres.

9. Eastern & Western Hemispheres ► The Prime Meridian divides the Eastern & Western Hemispheres.
