12 12 H-1B Technical Skills Training Grants Round 2 Period of Performance  Round 1: November 14, 2011 and conclude November 30, 2015  Round 2: April 2, 2012 and continue thru March 31, 2016  DOL expects grantees to fully expend funds during the 48 month period of performance

13 13 H-1B Technical Skills Training Grants Round 2 Grant Highlights  Some highlights of these grants –Primary objective of the grants is worker training –Implemented by required partnership—two of three listed in SGA –The SGA required grantees to choose either OJT (everyone gets OJT) or “Other” (no one gets OJT) as a declared training strategy

14 14 H-1B Technical Skills Training Grants Round 2 Highlights (cont.) OJT may be supported by other kinds of training –i.e. someone on OJT may also have classroom training –Incumbent workers cannot receive an OJT Therefore, a grantee cannot be serving incumbent workers and using OJT as a training strategy  Grantees that serve Incumbent Workers must match 50% of the total grand award –50% of that must be a cash match  Participant eligibility –18 and over, middle skills –On a career pathway
