Mobile Equipment Technical Standards Committee (METSC)

What is METSC? ► Committee that oversees the development and application of the “GM 2050” specification document ► Conducts reviews of candidate vehicles to ensure compliance with all safety requirements: Gm 2050, ANSI, OSHA, and other regional regulations. Does not normally do plant specific risk assessments ► Meets with vendors to review upcoming technology: New mast systems 80 volt motors

Who is on the METSC? ► UAW-GM CHR representatives – Currently Frank Moultrie and John Faulconbridge ► Global Safety – Currently Wayne Casebolt and John Stroyan ► Mobile Equipment Group at Warren Tech Center Analysts Purchasing Facilities Fleet Managers ► Other members as needed

The GM 2050 Specification ► Document covers safety requirements Seat belts - interlock Lights Operator presence Ergonomics considerations ► Document also covers items like service and warranty

How can I (the plant) help? ► Stay informed about the fleet in your facility ► Ask if a new Powered Industrial Vehicle has been reviewed by the METSC as soon as you hear about it ► Remind your staff that any “permanent” modification to existing equipment must be approved by the OEM and METSC ► Contact us if you have questions
