Wednesday 2/20 Warm Up: p 357 1&2 Class: Go over Oregon Trail 1- What was life on the trail like? 2- What were keys to survival? 3- Why did people move west? 4- Most memorable moment? DBQ

Step- 1:Hook exercise Do this hook exercise in groups. Answer individually in notebook. We will go over as a class.

Step 2 Answer background essay ?’s with group Answer overall “Was the U.S. justified in going to war with Mexico?” – Yes or No and predict 3 categories why or why not

Step 3 Share Docs with the class – Give a summary of doc – Answer questions for class – How could it be argued as a yes No?

Step 4 Look again at overarching ? – “Was the U.S. justified in going to war with Mexico?” – Yes or No? Tweak buckets to apply to documents Put docs in buckets

Step 5 Write essay – Introduction- TP (time and place), background or what happens in history before Thesis- reword prompt, answer ?, 3 buckets Body P’s- buckets (3) – Quotes or support from the documents “” Use actual names of docs (NOT Doc A) – Ex- in the objections from Charles Sumner 3 or more Highlight support Conclusion- – Sum it up, restate thesis – What happens after? – SIGNIFICANCE (why important in US history)
