CRAP FROM A TO B Example A Can you read this slide? Does the background image relate to the text? Example B Real photos help viewers capture the ‘feeling’ of the message. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Knowledge is good-get a mammogram today.

CONTRAST Refers to creating interest on the page with: Color Font Styles Shapes Images BOLD Go BOLD ! Use your knowledge of color to create contrast and set things apart.

Both examples contain the same information, but the second is more appealing because of the CONTRAST!

REPETITION Focuses on consistency; repeat one aspect of the design throughout the entire presentation or campaign Font Scheme Color Scheme Alignment (left, center or right) Headings Images or Logos

ALIGNMENT Focuses on the unity of the entire document – consider headings, text and images visual connection Strong vertical or horizontal lines result from using consistent alignment, and it creates a visual connection with something else on the page.

Sometimes centered text can be difficult to focus on or read. Adding a graphic & shifting alignment changes the whole effect. Which do you prefer, and why?

PROXIMITY cohesive Encourages related items to be seen as one cohesive group, rather than random, unrelated elements. Proximity makes your message easier to follow and your design more visually appealing !
