Land and Climate Land area is 241,930 sq. km Water area is 1,680 sq.km Total area is 243,610 sq. km England, Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland come together to make what we call today the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom if you put it all together It would be about the same size of Oregon. The Northern part of The UK is mainly filled with low mountain ranges and rugged hills. The East consist of low flat farm ground. Winter mounts usually contain temperatures around 25°F Summer and early Fall mounts usually range around 72°F

History Romans attack A.D 43 and were moved out by local tribes in 426. Vikings raided in late eighteenth century. William the Conqueror won the battle of Hastings in 1066 kicking the Vikings out of the UK. King Henry VIII established the church of England. Queen Elizabeth I resigns to explore the globe at a early age. Wales joins the UK 1535. Scotland joins the UK 1707. Northern Ireland joins the UK in 1801. The UK lost its American colonies in 1776. Canada was part of the UK until 1867 when they broke away. After the UK lost Canada a lot of other United Kingdom colonies started to break away and form their owe independence. The UK joined (NATO) North American Treaty Organization in 1949. Then they joined the (EU) European Union in 1973. But in 2001 the UK was hit with the terribly foot-mouth-disease. Killing tons of their live stock. After this The UK took a plunge in their economy and tourisms.

Language English is the official language of UK. But different languages are spoken throughout the UK. Like foreign languages are common in rule parts of the UK. But these days parents believe that they should have their children speak BBC or Oxford.

Religion During the King Henry VIII rein people left the Roman Catholic Church to join the church of England. Which quickly grew but today it barley exists and keeps losing political power in the UK. But yet the Queen is still the head of the church. There are many different types of religion in the UK. Like Jewish, Methodist, Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam are also found in the UK. Todays people in the UK about one out of every ten people go to church on Sunday. Most people believe there religion is a private matter.

Greetings In the UK the most used and formal greeting is a simply handshake. They are usually firm and not aggressive. Around friends and family their might be kissing most likely on the check. When someone passes you in a public place it is polite to say good morning, good afternoon or good evening depending on what time of day. Young people might say Sir, Dr or Mr or Miss. These are just some of the most found greetings in the UK.

Gestures The UK people are the most reserved people. Loud and bad behavior is not totaled. People in the UK respect others personal space. Touching is usually avoided in the UK. Manners are important but not as well strict as they use to be.

Diet In the UK a traditional breakfast consists of bacon, sausage, toasted tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs and bread fried in fat or oil. But these days it is a lot less traditional and most breakfast's consists of cereal, fruit coffee or tea. Many meals consist of beef, pork, potatoes and pasta dishes. There are many fast food restaurants that serve fries, burgers. Their are also chinese restaurants, pizza parlors and many pubs. There are many Deseret dishes like Yorkshire pudding and steak and kidney pie

Commerce Businesses regularly open at 9 A.M and closes at 5 P.M Monday through Friday. Most malls and other businesses are open on the weekends to. Some small businesses are open 1 and 2 P.M to about 5 P.M. A lot of businesses are closed on Sunday because of high religious beliefs in the UK.

Health The UK’s national health service for short (NHS) provides social services. People only pay for prescriptions and some personal values. Quality of care and treatment are high but its running out of money for funding. Private care is available for people who can afford it.

Education A large part of the UK’s taxes are spent on schools and education. Most of the schools offer kids to attended between the ages of five to sixteen but some start early in nursery school and some stay after the age of sixteen. When they are the age of eighteen they may request to take an exam to submit to collages to get in. In the UK there are around 80 collages and some private and personal ones too. But to get into these collages you must score a certain grade on the exam to get in. And after collage most kids go on get a job in live the rest of their lives.
